Legal · Fairspell privacy

Fairspell keeps your plans on your phone, and your location goes only to Apple Weather.

Fairspell scans the hourly forecast and finds the windows that suit your outdoor plans. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and Oakferry runs no servers for it. This page explains exactly what the app touches.

Effective 27 August 2026 Every forecast hides good hours.

Oakferry Games Inc. does not collect, store, sell, share or transmit personal data from anyone who uses Fairspell. Weather requests go directly from your device to Apple Weather. The studio-wide policy is at oakferry.com/privacy.

01Your location

Fairspell asks for when-in-use location permission for one purpose: fetching the local forecast from Apple Weather (Apple’s WeatherKit service). Before any request leaves your device the coordinates are rounded to roughly a kilometre. Your location is never stored anywhere except on your own phone, is never sent to Oakferry, and is never shared with anyone else.

You can decline entirely and type a place name instead — the app works identically. Places you save are stored only on your device.

02What stays on your device

Your activities and their rules, saved places, cached forecasts and the computed windows all live in a local database on your phone. They never leave it. Deleting the app — or using Settings → Erase local data — removes them permanently; because there is no account behind them, we cannot restore them.

03Apple Weather

Forecasts are provided by Apple Weather. Those requests are made by Apple’s frameworks under Apple’s own privacy terms, and attribution is shown inside the app (Settings → About) and at Apple’s data-source attribution page.

04Calendar

“Add to Calendar” opens the system event editor with the window pre-filled. Fairspell never reads your calendar and holds no calendar permission; the system sheet does the saving, and the app only learns whether you saved or cancelled.

05Analytics, advertising and purchases

There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, no advertising, and no third-party code that phones home. Fairspell Full, the optional one-time purchase, is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — Oakferry never sees payment details, and no purchase information is sent to us.

06If you email us

When you write to us for support we necessarily receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply, keep correspondence no longer than we need to resolve the matter, never add anyone to a mailing list and never pass correspondence to a third party.

For that correspondence — the only personal data we ever hold — the data controller is Oakferry Games Inc., reachable at the address below. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering the person who wrote to us, and we delete the thread once the matter is closed. Nothing in the app itself has a controller, because nothing in the app reaches us.

07Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and port personal data we hold about you. In our case there is generally nothing to exercise them against, because we hold nothing — the exception is any email you have sent us. To make a request, email the address below. If you are in the UK or the EU and are unsatisfied with our response, you may also complain to your national data protection authority (your national supervisory authority under the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR).
